Mali – Beautiful but off limits

Mali is a rather beautiful country, but it is off limits to British people. It’s not that you’re not necessarily allowed to go there, you are, but the British government is advising against all travel to Mali.

It’s understandable though, and that’s because rebel groups and government forces have been fighting since May, while there are been many violent protests in Bamako (the capital of Mali). The Government go as far to say that if you do need to travel to Mali, then you should maintain several days’ stock of food and water in case disturbances take place.

There is also a threat of Kidnap in Mali and it’s a shame because it’s such a beautiful country that’s worth exploring, and perhaps wit will take some time. There have been no outbreaks of Ebola in Mali though, and if the fighting calm down then this country is well worth a visit, with beautiful scenery, picturesque fishing villages and astonishing wildlife.
